History of the Catamaran

Our catamaran, a Lagoon 450 Fly, hull number FR-CNB45240B313, left the factory in La Rochelle at the end of 2013. This boat's sailing history includes La Rochelle, Gibraltar, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Panama, and Tahiti. The previous owner, a longtime friend with whom we sailed, sold it to us in Tahiti upon its arrival.

I have been the new owner since February 2020. The boat has sailed very little since then, between the ISLV, the Marquesas Islands, and the Tuamotu Islands, still in French Polynesia.

It is powered by two 55hp Yanmar engines and 4-blade Max Pro propellers, providing a cruising speed of over 9 knots at just 2,000 rpm. The engines had 800 engine hours when purchased; they now have 1,200 engine hours. It is equipped with a 2,000Ah tubular battery bank, four 320Wx4 rigid solar panels, and 14 semi-rigid panels on the deckhouse and bikini deck, providing a solar energy autonomy of over 2,000W. The catamaran is equipped with two 3kW inverters and a watermaker producing 200 liters of fresh water per hour, ensuring total water autonomy.

This catamaran is an owner's version with 3 cabins. It has never been chartered or stored in a hurricane-affected area. The turnbuckles and shrouds were replaced in 2020 to comply with the terms of our insurance policy; the tightening is identical since the boat left the factory. The Lagoon protocol, using the kit provided by Lagoon for reinforcing the bulkheads, has been completed; everything is in order.

The catamaran is in excellent condition; we live on board and maintain it constantly. We winterize the catamaran for four to six months a year; the rest of the year, we return to mainland France to see our families. The catamaran is then stored out of the water at the Apataki shipyard in the Tuamotus, located out of the reach of potential cyclones (very rare in Polynesia). This out-of-water storage on the Apataki atoll is ideal; it receives little rainfall, and the light-colored gravel floor is conducive to safe boat storage. The hull is refinished and antifouling is applied annually during this time, as are the engines' maintenance and overhaul.

A direct inter-island flight from Apataki to Tahiti/Papeete allows us to then take an international flight. The previous owner had already owned three other catamarans, and this is our second catamaran and our fifth boat. We have been sailing for over 40 years and take the utmost care of our boats. We are reluctantly parting ways with this beautiful vessel to become caregivers for our aging parents in mainland France.

The catamaran is ready to sail, it has been certified for Papeete, the import tax for Polynesia has been paid, and the catamaran can therefore remain in French Polynesia for as long as the owner wishes.

We can first organize a virtual tour on board via WhatsApp, for example, to show you around this beautiful vessel, answer all your questions, and provide a detailed inventory if you wish.
